Ski Chalets can accommodate anything from 8 to over 20 skiers. The larger catered properties tend to be classed as Chalet hotels or Club hotels and are almost always hotels that now operate on a ski chalet basis.

Newer Skiing Chalets tend to be predominately en-suite accommodation, either free-standing traditional looking chalets or sometimes in apartment style in a building sharing leisure facilities with other chalets. However, many of the older mountain chalets are converted dwellings and farmhouses, giving then tremendous character. Being ex-hotels, Chalet hotels usually have all en-suite rooms and a downstairs bar.

Choosing a Ski Chalet is often more difficult than choosing a hotel. Not least, because there are many different sizes available and your group may require sole use. • The best group skiing holiday bargains are usually offered in the Preview edition brochures, which are on sale towards the end of the previous year's season. i.e. Previews for the Winter 2016/17 season will go on sale around December 2015.
• Group discounts and free places are available throughout the year. However, the earlier you can commit to book and to pay your deposits, the more generous the discounts tend to be. We will ensure that you receive the maximum number of free places or discounts at the time you book.
• Having exclusive use of a Mountain Chalet is the ultimate Group Holiday. With constant access to the latest Ski Chalet availability, we are ideally placed to find the most suitable chalet for your group. However, even if there aren't ski chalets that match your exact party size we can often negotiate a price to have sole use of a slightly larger one and pay any empty bed supplements.

Catered Chalet Ski Holidays - Cuisine

One of the most pleasurable aspects of Ski Chalet Holidays is mealtimes. Your (usually live-in) chalet staff will cook for you and your fellow ski chalet guests.

Unlike a hotel, mealtimes in a mountain chalet bring guests together, creating a very relaxed and homely atmosphere. The evening meal often has a feeling of an informal dinner party with friends.

Chalet cuisine is much more than Half Board as you get afternoon tea and coffee freshly served as you rest after returning from the slopes, and complimentary wine is served with your evening meal.

A typical ski chalet holiday menu might be:

• Wholesome breakfast including a simple cooked breakfast along with cereals, porridge, and eggs, bread, butter & preserves, tea or fresh coffee and orange juice.
• Afternoon tea with home baked cakes & biscuits, bread, butter & preserves, with tea, coffee or hot chocolate.
• 3 or 4 course evening meal with complimentary wine, followed by tea or fresh coffee. Often aperitifs and canapes are provided. Some ski chalet hotels have 5 course evening meals.

Please note that ski chalet staff have one day off a week when breakfast and afternoon tea will be left out for you and you will be free to sample a local restaurant in the evening, so a weekly ski chalet holiday includes only 6 evening meals.

Catered Chalet Ski Holidays - Children

Many ski chalets only accommodate children (up to aged 12) in school holidays. However, if your party books the entire ski chalet then this restriction does not apply.

'Family chalets' encourage children all season. These generally stock many items e.g. games to keep young children occupied. Some Ski chalets also have an in-house crèche/ nanny service available. Children are always allowed into Club Hotels or Chalet hotels at all times. They are often an excellent choice as they are more likely to offer child care/entertainment in-house e.g. Kids club, Nanny Service.
